Health Information Technology

The Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology (HIT) degree prepares students to be job ready to work in physicians' practices, health facilities, pharmaceutical and insurance companies, law offices, and federal and state governmental agencies. Job duties include organizing and managing medical records; analyzing and evaluating health records that comply with health information standards and regulations; billing, coding symptoms, diseases, operations, procedures, and other therapies for maximum reimbursement; ensuring that health information is complete and available to legitimate users while protecting patient privacy and maintaining information security; and, maintaining and utilizing a variety of health record indexes and storage and retrieval systems. Qualified professionals often finds jobs quickly in this high-demand field.
