Students in the HRTM degree program take courses in a broad range of hospitality topics including Law, Marketing, Accounting, Cost Control, Leadership, Hotel Operations, Food and Beverage Operations, and Facilities Management. Senior-level elective classes are designed for students to be able to focus on specific areas of interest such as Management for Resorts, Events or Food and Beverage Operations, Hotel Sales and Revenue Management or advanced levels of core subjects such as Hotel Operations or Restaurant Management. Students are required to have 400 hours of hospitality work experience and perform a 400 hour paid internship for academic credit as part of the degree. NMSU Online students can take full advantage of HRTM programs such as the Marriott Hospitality Futures Center, student clubs, travel opportunities, and networking and job placement resources.
The School of HRTM has a diverse faculty, with extensive experience in many areas of the hospitality industry. The same faculty teaching on campus are providing the instruction for the NMSU Online students. Our HRTM classes are small to provide one on one guidance, and we take pride in getting to know our students. We are hospitality people and our faculty truly cares about students and their success.
