Bachelor of Public Health

New Mexico State University’s Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) program prepares students for public health careers in nonprofit agencies, in government agencies at the local, state and national levels, and in companies actively promoting employee wellness as both a personal and business asset. The BPH program is fully accredited by the Council on Education in Public Health (CEPH).

The Bachelor of Public Health curriculum includes a Field Experience of 320 hours of supervised professional work in a public health setting. This Field Experience is arranged so that the student can fulfill this important component of their education in the community where they live. As students prepare to enter the workforce, Bachelor of Public Health graduates are eligible to take the national Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) exam, administered by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing. BPH graduates may also continue their education in Master of Public Health (MPH) programs at NMSU and other universities.
