Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management

The Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management (HRTM) is an online degree program that prepares students for management positions in the rapidly growing hospitality and tourism industry. With an academic background tailored to meet industry needs, HRTM students leave campus ready to succeed in the world's greatest industry. While the program is very transfer friendly for students who have already completed their NM general education requirements and lower-division HRTM classes, all courses needed to fulfill HRTM degree requirements are available online. Students take courses to gain knowledge, skills, and competencies in a broad range of hospitality topics including Law, Marketing, Accounting and Cost Controls, Leadership, Hotel Operations, Food and Beverage, and Facilities Management. Senior-level elective classes are designed for students to be able to focus in a specific area of interest. Students are required to have 400 hours of hospitality work experience and perform a 400 hour internship for academic credit as part of the degree. NMSUO students can take full advantage of HRTM programs such as Marriott Hospitality Futures Center workshops, student clubs, travel opportunities, and assistance with career placement.
