The mission of NMSU’s Management Department is to prepare graduates with business administration degrees for a broad spectrum of career opportunities with employers and businesses in New Mexico, nationally and globally. Equipped with a degree in business administration, NMSU graduates are ready to work in agriculture, manufacturing, government, transportation, public utilities, merchandising, healthcare, environmental and communications organizations and many other fields.
NMSU’s Bachelor of Business Administration program offers general business majors with the opportunity to develop in-demand skills in applying human, physical and economic resources to achieve organizational objectives.
Business Knowledge
You will graduate with fundamental knowledge of the functional areas of business including Identifying and applying theoretical frameworks to analyze individual, interpersonal, group and organization-level behaviors to improve organizational performance and effectiveness. Business majors also are prepared to:
- Identify and describe the major laws affecting diversity management and apply these laws in organizational situations.
- Generate and assess available corporate- and business-level strategic options under conditions of imperfect knowledge, and formulate an appropriate recommended strategy.
- Identify key problems and suggest actions to resolve these problems in the production and delivery of goods and services.
- Describe and apply at least two approaches to evaluating the ethical aspects of managerial situations.
- Identify a problem-solving framework and apply the model to think critically when analyzing organizational problems and designing solutions and strategies to address such problems.
