The mission of NMSU’s Management Department is to prepare graduates with business administration degrees for a broad spectrum of career opportunities with employers and businesses in New Mexico, nationally and globally.  Equipped with a degree in business administration, NMSU graduates are ready to work in agriculture, manufacturing, government, transportation, public utilities, merchandising, healthcare, environmental and communications organizations and many other fields.

NMSU’s Bachelor of Business Administration program offers general business majors with the opportunity to develop in-demand skills in applying human, physical and economic resources to achieve organizational objectives.

Business Knowledge

You will graduate with fundamental knowledge of the functional areas of business including Identifying and applying theoretical frameworks to analyze individual, interpersonal, group and organization-level behaviors to improve organizational performance and effectiveness. Business majors also are prepared to:

  • Identify and describe the major laws affecting diversity management and apply these laws in organizational situations.
  • Generate and assess available corporate- and business-level strategic options under conditions of imperfect knowledge, and formulate an appropriate recommended strategy.
  • Identify key problems and suggest actions to resolve these problems in the production and delivery of goods and services.
  • Describe and apply at least two approaches to evaluating the ethical aspects of managerial situations.
  • Identify a problem-solving framework and apply the model to think critically when analyzing organizational problems and designing solutions and strategies to address such problems.

Program Highlights

The College of Business aims to transform student lives by providing highly respected programs, instruction and scholarly activities to prepare future  graduates with degrees in business to drive the economic, social, educational and community development in New Mexico’s diverse communities and in the business sector worldwide.

To earn your BBA degree with a General Business major, you will complete all University degree requirements, which include General Education requirements; Viewing a Wider World requirements; and elective credits to total at least 120 credits with 48 credits in courses numbered 300 or above.

 

BBA Delivery Formats

Students interested in General Business, Information Systems or Marketing majors can complete a fully online business degree. In the BBA program, the upper-division (junior and senior level) courses are offered online from the Las Cruces campus and are taught by the same instructors as on-campus BBA courses. The lower-division courses (freshman and sophomore level) are available online either from the Las Cruces campus or the NMSU community colleges. Internships

Business majors have the option to complete an internship and earn credit for it. The internship course integrates academic work with the application of the principles of management. A minimum of 12 work weeks is required to obtain course credit.

Research Projects

Business administration degree students can complete independent study courses with faculty experts in various areas of the business field to deepen their knowledge in a specific management-related topic.
